about

MORF (Music on Regenerative Farms) is a brand new grassroots live music initiative with the intention of bringing concerts to sustainable, nature-focused projects - permaculture, urban community and school gardens, rewilding and reforestation projects… you name it!

in the long run, our goal is to bring regenerative farming closer to people and give back to the movement at large with the money we raise - help farmers make the transition to sustainable practices, help schools implement gardening into their curriculum, help communities become self-sufficient in growing their own food. All the while doing it by way of building community through shared joy (music & food & nature = joy).

the founders

Max & Michael met while studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Having played hundreds of shows as solo artists (Max Embers and Michael Martinez) over the course of their careers, the two are currently launching their duo project Lonely Parrots.

An NBC Songland and American Idol alum, Max traveled nomadically across the United States for almost two years, visiting sustainable farms along the way and planting the first seeds that would eventually become MORF.

In a conversation that can only be described as serendipitous (picture the two of them post car crash, sitting on a beach in Half Moon Bay, watching the sunset…) the idea took shape. Michael - Sofar Sounds veteran and critically acclaimed SF theatre performer - connected the dots that led to the inception of MORF.

Inspired by their joint passion for nature as well as the desire to contribute to the climate justice movement, MORF aims to reshape our connection as humans to the way we grow food, heal our soil and celebrate community & art.

shows

We are currently in the process of booking more MORF shows, but are proud to share that besides hosting concerts on a wide array of regenerative farms all along the West Coast (see our partner farms below), we have partnered with the globally renowned concert series Sofar Sounds (whose alumni include Billie Eilish, Lianne LaHavas, YEBBA & Leon Bridges to name a few).

Our past MORF x Sofar Sounds partnership shows have been a wonderful success, taking place at secret - and of course sustainably oriented - venues such as The Cook’s Garden in the heart of Venice Beach, California!

All of our future partnership shows with Sofar Sounds will be curated by the team at MORF with venues provided by sustainable brands and businesses, urban farms and other permaculture projects.

besides starting MORF together, Max & Michael are also in a brand new duo called Lonely Parrots.
